Gabriela Montero in Concert

“Montero’s playing has everything: crackling rhythmic brio, subtle shadings, steely power in climactic moments, soulful lyricism in the ruminative passages and, best of all, unsentimental expressivity.”
Anthony Tommasini wrote for her in the New York Times

Gabriela Montero, one of the most acclaimed pianists worldwide, visits Athens for a unique piano recital with works by Schubert and Schumann.
Montero was born in Caracas, Venezuela, started piano practicing at the age of three, and gave her first public performance at the age of five. Her concert debut three years later won her a national scholarship for private studies in the United States. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London with the highest honours. She has appeared at the greatest music halls and has collaborated with internationally acclaimed orchestras.
In 2015, in recognition of her long-term efforts for the protection of human rights, both through music and public discourse, Montero has been appointed as the first “Honorary Consul” of Amnesty International.
