ADAGIO – MUSIC FOR EASTER
The annual Adagio Cycle combines religious and lay works, in search of the Divine and the Human Passion.
The church-organ repertoire, constantly enriched over the centuries, is characterized by infinite stylistic variety. The timbral and polyphonic capabilities of the organ, in combination with the virtuosic and improvisational skills of the organists, inspire music that expresses the intellectual, and even metaphysical, dimension of a composer’s thought as well as its deepest and tenderest human undertones. An atmospheric introduction to this year’s Adagio Cycle in the spirit of the Easter Season, by imaginative Norwegian organist Bjørn Andor Drage, an artist with a remarkable discography, ranging from classical to rock and avant-garde!
Works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Johann Pachelbel, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Guy Bovet, Louis Vierne
Transcriptions of works by Edvard Grieg and Sarah Svendsen, by Bjørn Andor Drage
