Overview

Internationally renowned guitar soloist Elena Papandreou has always stood out for her spontaneous lyricism and the brilliant virtuosity of her performances, which have won her important awards and successful appearances in large major concert halls around the world. This time, the sensitivity of her playing meets this time the sensitivity of the music of Manos Hadjidakis, as reflected in some of his most loved and popular songs, which will be heard in imaginative adaptations by Roland Duens and Orestis Kalampalikis. Tonight’s wonderful recital is complemented by a work by Bach and a prelude by Cuban composer Leo Brower, written especially for the soloist.

Music

Trio El Greco

From the mature, introverted German romanticism of Brahms and the more extroverted music of Dvořák, which draws on the Czech folk music tradition, to the moody style of Armenian composer Babadjanian, the ever-active Trio El Greco presents a less frequently visited side of the repertoire for piano trio, revealing unexpected similarities between these quite different composers.
