This year, Filarmonica della Scala celebrates forty years of existence and uninterrupted activity in the difficult scene of symphonic music. In its long-awaited appearance at the Odeon of Herod Atticus, it will be led by Korean conductor Myung Whun –  Chung, one of the great maestros with whom the orchestra has a long-standing association and cooperation. Chung’s superb, robust readings of the masterpieces of the symphonic literature have rightfully earned him a place in the pantheon of the great conductors of our time. His perception and insight are placed at the service of Beethoven’s Second symphony and Dvořák’s “New World”  Symphony, one of the all-time favourite symphonies of the Romantic repertoire.
