If we had to choose one genre from the inexhaustible repertoire of George Dalaras, it would surely be rebetiko, which he loved as a child, performed throughout his musical career and continues to discover to this day, digging and presenting hidden songs not only as a performer but also as a musician. Because for him, rebetiko is the most revolutionary and vibrant genre of our musical heritage. After his tour with rebetiko songs in famous, packed halls in Europe, George Dalaras, with an ensemble of special folk musicians, presents at Megaron the Athens Concert Hall iconic songs of rebetiko, but also songs by contemporary Greek composers who were written in the streets of rebetiko and left their own indelible mark on the history of Greek music. Two musical performances about rebetiko, the music that deepens the Greek soul and helped catalyze the mural of the collective social consciousness and the ethos of the authentic folk song.
