The two virtuosos present short pieces for cello and piano by Greek composers, written especially for this concert, together with a major work of Romanticism, the Sonata No. 1, opus 38 by Brahms. In the last work on the concert’s programme, Rachmaninoff’s Sonata opus 19, the Russian composer’s fiery temperament combines ideally the piano’s rich score with the cello’s warm timbre.
