In Cihan Türkoğlu’s work Beyond the Borders, written especially for Maria Farantouri, Eastern Mediterranean musical traditions meet with medieval music, jazz, minimalism, and classical music.
Original lyrics by Agathi Dimitrouka intermingle with a selection by Maria herself of traditional pieces and ancient Greek as well as modern lyrical poems to form an elaborate whole offering the listener a novel combination of the various cultures.
