The biggest dance band of the African continent takes centre stage at Megaron, to take us on a journey to the rhythms of Cuba and the sounds of West African music. The legendary Orchestra Baobab, one of the largest and most iconic bands in the history of music, celebrates its 50th anniversary with a European tour that begins in February 2022. Adored in their home country, Senegal, and throughout the world, the Baobabs have a special place in the history of African pop music. They were among the most important bands that created the afro-latin sound of the 1970s, combining Cuban rhythms with African melodies. Their epic story began in the 1960s in the heart of Medina, in Senegal’s Dakar Region, and continues to this day across the globe. They have released twenty-four widely recognised studio albums, while their collaborations with major names of the international music scene, such as Ibrahim Ferrer of the Buena Vista Social Club, Cheikh Ibra Fam, Youssou N’Dour and Dave Matthews, have made musical history.
