DANCE AT MEGARON – THE BOLSHOI BALLET LIVE FROM MOSCOW

Juliet, a Capulet, and Romeo, a Montague, fall deeply in love with each other despite the fact that their families are mortal foes. When Romeo’s cousin Mercutio is killed by Tybalt, a Capulet, Romeo is forced to kill the murderer. A cycle of bloody revenge opens which will close with the death of the two young lovers.

The tragic fate of the Shakespearean ‘star-crossed lovers’ provided the inspiration for Prokofiev’s magnificent ballet score, from the delicate Theme of Juliet to the ominous Dance of the Knights. Bolshoi stars Ekaterina Krysanova and Vladislav Lantratov bring to life Alexei Ratmansky’s exquisite choreography, a poignant evocation of love at first sight: For never was a story of more woe / Than this of Juliet and her Romeo.
