In cooperation with Animasyros International Animation Film Festival + Agora

For the eighth consecutive year the International Music Competition for the Animation film “66 Days” by Georgia Pournara is organized by Megaron the Athens Concert Hall as part of the GEFYRES Series.
Every year, the very large number of entries from Greece and abroad demonstrates the intense interest of creators -younger and not only- in film music and even more so in animation films, which leave a wide field of freedom, imagination and compositional creation.
Animegaron’s main objective is to become a showcase for talented composers of music for the image, enabling them to communicate not only with the public but also with professionals from the world of entertainment and the performing arts. Thus, in addition to the general public, we invite television and film producers, directors and critics to the webcast of the final phase of the Competition. In this context, a permanent platform has already been created on the Megaron website, where the soundtracks of this year’s event will be available, based on the evaluation and scoring of the jury.
The jury includes:
Athena Kalkopoulou: Producer
Regina Kapetanaki: Director, Choreographer, Writer, creator of Lillipoupolis
Dimitris Maragopoulos: Composer, head of the Bridges Cycle at Megaron
Christos Papageorgiou: Composer, Pianist
Dimitris Papadimitriou: Composer
Georgia Pournara’s short film, musically scored from the 10 best compositions selected by the jury, will be presented on the social media of the Athens Concert Hall on the day of the online broadcast of the results (30 May 2025). From these 10 contestants selected by the jury, the three winners of Animegaron will emerge, who will receive cash prizes and will be supported by a broad range of promotional activities. In addition, the soundtracks of the three winners and of the whole dozen selected contestants will be hosted on the Megaron’s website and YouTube channel.
66 Days Overview
Tade lives alone in an apartment nestled in the heart of Athens—a city that feels like the center of the world and, at times, the edge of nowhere. Her days begin in the bathroom, brushing her teeth as the first ritual of many. Tade finds joy in life’s simplest pleasures: the comforting warmth of a morning meal, the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee, and the gentle embrace of greenery spilling through her windows. These small anchors seem to wait for her eagerly, as if sharing her quiet rhythm.
But it’s during her cherished bath time that Tade truly escapes. Immersed in steaming water, her worries dissolve, and the world beyond the bathroom fades into a soft oblivion. It is here, in this fleeting stillness, that she finds the strength to rise and face the day. Yet as she opens her eyes, the question lingers: does Tade realize that life beyond her apartment holds possibilities she’s yet to grasp? Or will she remain caught in this cycle—a loop of comfort and captivity, her favorite habits both sanctuary and snare?
Closing date for entries: 21 March 2025, 17:00 (Greek time).
