The musical collective Climate Change presents Vanishing Point as part of the Bridges series. True to their mission, the four internationally acclaimed musicians—Christos Hatzis, Christos Rafalides, Petros Klampanis, and Antonis Sousamoglou—draw on their artistic diversity, ranging from jazz to classical and world music, seeking to bridge cultural and musical differences through a deeply creative and collaborative process.
In Vanishing Point, they explore the boundaries of musical convergence in a fascinating encounter of the artists’ diverse paths, set against a backdrop of global geopolitical upheaval and climate change—vibrations of an unpredictable, restless, and fluid era. The worlds of jazz and contemporary classical music are irresistibly drawn together, not to collide, but to give birth to explosive new soundscapes. Their raw material includes reflections on Chopin’s devastated Poland, the harsh dead-ends of today’s wars, a sardonic commentary on the hedonistic nonchalance of the 20th-century dolce vita, and the existential anguish of the work’s title, Vanishing Point. These elements intertwine, driven by the hope for unity through creativity, transcending the confines of musical genre.
