Frida Kahlo Theatre@Underground

Overview
Magda Mavroyianni presents a stage performance inspired by Frida Kahlo’s explosive personality. Drawing on music, visual arts and history, she takes us on a journey to the life and work of the iconic Mexican painter. A life of excess, marked by pain and unstoppable creativity, in which love was the protagonist. Frida painted, but also suffered. She lived everything to excess, even her illness, giving a purpose to her pain, turning it into her creative drive, trying to understand the logic of things. What kept her going was the strength of her talent. The inventive performance of actress Matthildi Maggira highlights Frida Kahlo’s story through her physical peculiarity. Mezzo-soprano Marissia Papalexiou and pianist Dionysis Mallouchos accompany the great visual artist’s journey with music from Latin America and Mexico.
