Janine Jansen Falling for Stradivari

Overview
Asterisk Films and Foxy Films in association with Sky Arts present the documentary film “Janine Jansen: Falling For Stradivari”.
Renowned Dutch violinist Janine Jansen recently set herself a unique challenge: to record an album playing twelve of the best violins of the legendary violin-maker Antonio Stradivari, with the eminent conductor Sir Antonio Pappano accompanying her on the piano. With very little time at her disposal to try out and become acquainted with the particularities of each individual violin, she chose works that fit their particular timbre and interpreted them with the respective instrument. In the documentary film to be screened at Megaron, viewers will have a unique opportunity to learn about the historic Stradivarius violins, some of which belonged to great virtuosos of the 20th century, such as Fritz Kreisler, Nathan Milstein, Ida Haendel, and others. At the same time, they will get to know more intimately two of the most charming musicians of our time, as they unfold different aspects of their personalities with all the energy, glow and sensitivity that characterises them as individuals, in a documentary that is full of intensity, passion, anxiety and humour.
