Jules Massenet: Manon MET HD Live

Overview
A thrilling tale of love and passion: beautiful country girl Manon arrives at Amiens and becomes the object of desire for all the men. Guillot de Morfontaine claims her, but she falls in love with the young Chevalier des Grieux, and follows him to Paris. A third man, De Brètigny, terrorizes Manon by telling her that her lover’s father is planning an abduction of his son in order to separate him from her, and finally wins her over with promises. When Manon is finally reunited with Des Grieux, De Morfontaine takes his revenge by having her imprisoned and exiled to the French colonies in America, where she dies of hardship in the arms of her lover. A co-production of the Metropolitan Opera; Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London; Teatro alla Scala, Milan; and Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse.
