“Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.”
Caught between duty and doubt, and surrounded by a world defined by power and privilege, young Prince Hamlet voices the question known to all.

This elegant and sharply perceptive adaptation, rich in dark humour, is directed by the National Theatre’s Deputy Artistic Director, Robert Hastie (Standing at the Sky’s Edge, Operation Mincemeat). In the title role, Olivier Award–winner Hiran Abeysekera (Life of Pi) delivers a bold performance in this contemporary interpretation, embodying the tragic prince and his elusive, enigmatic psyche.
