For the fifth consecutive year, Megaron the Athens Concert Hall brings music and culture to Northern Evia, with an enriched and more multi-faceted programme than ever, comprising 14 events — concerts, festivals and educational programmes — with free admission for the public.
Few Greek creators have left their mark on the international music scene the way Vangelis Papathanassiou did. From the electronic landscapes that accompanied Blade Runner to the majestic symphonic compositions for Alexander the Great and Chariots of Fire, his music transcended every boundary — geographical, linguistic, artistic. A sound that, once heard, is never forgotten.
The tribute is undertaken by Zorzes Katris, with live electronic music and projections from the films that Papathanassiou defined with his music — a striking audiovisual experience that honours a great creator in the way he deserves: live, dynamically, with respect and imagination.
Zorzes Katris has built a highly distinguished career in symphonic, electronic and film music. His works have been presented and awarded in countries including France, Germany, the USA, the United Kingdom and Greece, at venues such as Megaron the Athens Concert Hall and the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, and have been performed by orchestras including the Erfurt Philharmonic Orchestra, the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, the Camerata, the ERT Symphony Orchestra, and the Athens Municipality Symphony Orchestra and Mixed Choir.
The programme is funded by the Ministry of Culture and carried out in collaboration with the Municipality of Mantoudi-Limni-Agia Anna, in Mantoudi, Prokopi, Limni, Agia Anna and Rovies.
