Today’s vocal music is profoundly open to influences from other genres, constantly seeking new ways of expression and reaching a broader audience. The distinguished Greek composer Dimitris Skyllas draws inspiration from the timeless beauty of Greek folk tradition, particularly the mournful laments of Epirus. British composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, creator of world-renowned musicals such as The Phantom of the Opera and Cats, achieved a unique and highly successful blend of tonal, lyrical musical theater style with contemporary musical innovation in his Requiem (1985). The grand symphonic sound required by his work is brought to life under the inspired direction of internationally acclaimed conductor George Vranos, touching the most sensitive chords of our hearts.
