The ERT National Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of its music director Michalis Oikonomou, presents Ludwig van Beethoven’s magnificent Seventh Symphony. The concert will open with Kommos B by the renowned Greek composer, conductor, and educator Theodoros Antoniou, marking the 90th anniversary of his birth just a few days ago. This piece was commissioned by Lukas Foss and premiered alongside Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony in 1996 in New York. This is why both works share the exact same orchestration. The program is ideally completed with the Violin Concerto by American composer Samuel Barber, performed by the virtuoso violinist from Thessaloniki, Andreas Papanikolaou.
