On Easter Sunday in 1708, Händel premiered his masterful dramatic oratorio The Resurrection in Rome. This work movingly depicts the events surrounding the Passion and Resurrection of Jesus, as well as the struggle between the forces of Heaven and Hell. The internationally acclaimed conductor George Petrou, renowned as a master of Baroque music, returns to the podium of the Camerata – Friends of Music Orchestra, with whom he shares a long and fruitful artistic history, both in Greece and abroad. Joining them is a stellar cast of lyric singers, including the countertenor Nicolò Balducci and mezzo-soprano Mary-Ellen Nesi, both of whom have distinguished careers in early music and beyond. The evening is further illuminated by the participation of the acclaimed visual artist George Tellos, who creates a unique video installation specially designed for the Christos Lambrakis Hall.
