The Hellenic Foundation for Books and Culture (HFBC) and the Megaron The Athens Concert Hall continue their successful collaboration, organizing once again this year the event series “Writers, Books, Ideas,” which aims to highlight originality, authenticity, storytelling, research, the art of conversation, and orality.
The opening event welcomes the British writer, short story author, essayist, and above all novelist Julian Barnes, a leading figure in European letters. He was awarded the Booker Prize for his work The Sense of an Ending (2011), having previously been shortlisted for the same prize three times.
In Athens, he will present his latest book, Departures (2026), a reflection on the life shaped by our choices, on the way we recall the past and face the future, and on how we bid farewell to life.
Julian Barnes will be in conversation with Ilias Maglinis, journalist and author.
