Elias Karellas and his team present a brand-new adaptation of Aristophanes’ classic comedy Peace at the Megaron Garden, with Karagiozis (Greek shadow puppet theater) starring as Trygaeus – bridging ancient comedy with traditional folk theater.

In a world consumed by war, Karagiozis and his friends take matters into their own hands, embarking on a celestial journey to Mount Olympus atop a giant dung beetle. But instead of Zeus, they encounter War – a fearsome, orchestra-like figure brought to life by the commanding presence of Alkiviadis Konstantopoulos. War gains voice, melody, and rhythm, shifting between cruel egotism and unexpected bursts of humor.

Meanwhile, Peace (to be announced) emerges as a symbol of rebirth through song, carrying a message of reconciliation and the beauty of life without conflict. A traditional Greek orchestra underscores the journey, evoking the sorrows, joys, and dreams of a people.

When Karagiozis-Trygaeus finally unites his friends to roll away the boulder and free Peace, a great celebration erupts! Music triumphs over the noise of war, and a communal dance fills the Megaron Garden – where tradition meets the present, and the voice of Peace echoes like the Earth itself. Dancers from across Greece join hand-in-hand in this festive performance, led by music and the beloved hero of young and old alike!

A show for ages 4 to 104, this is not just a retelling of Aristophanes, but a living, breathing experience where music and shadow theater revive humanity’s timeless struggle for cooperation, love, and freedom.
