Writing for the children of our troubled planet. A casket of Time and nailing the sun.
The award-winning, popular Icelandic writer Andri Snær Magnason will give a lecture on «Writing for the children of our troubled planet. A casket of Time and nailing the sun» and he will talk with the director and child psychologist Sofia Vienopoulou and the writer Philippos Mandilaras for the political extensions of his books, his ecological concerns and his general attitude as an artist and a political being in the era of globalization and enormous climate change.
Mythology deals with the big forces of our world. A goddess brings spring, a wolf swallows the sun and love can be shot with an arrow. Our current times on earth are mythological in a way. We have learned how to split the atom and the big forces of earth are changing dramatically with climate change. Andri Snær Magnason has addressed important issues in his children’s books by using the elements of mythology in a modern way.
In the context of his speech, he will talk about the inspiration and the materials he uses to write a book, but also about how the society in which we live forms the stories.
