Luisa Miller, a young woman in love, sacrifices herself in order to save her father. Rodolfo, son of the local lord, renounces his father and a rich marriage for her sake. Plácido Domingo appears in the role of Miller, the tragic father, in this fine opera of Verdi’s middle period that is so rarely performed. Celebrated soprano Sonya Yoncheva sings the title role opposite Piotr Beczala, with Bertrand de Billy at the podium.
