Authentic sounds from Mozart’s era come alive through the virtuosity of the Camerata musicians and distinguished Greek soloists. Gut-stringed instruments, a Classical-period bassoon and transverse flute, an 1802 harp, and two fortepianos — replicas of those crafted by the renowned Anton Walter, similar to the one Mozart himself owned — engage in a dialogue between past and present under the baton of conductor George Petrou.
This highly virtuosic and varied programme radiates the infectious joy that pervades Mozart’s music: from the warm expressiveness of the Bassoon Concerto and the delicate interplay of the Flute and Harp Concerto, to the sparkling energy of the Violin Concerto No. 3 and the rare partnership in the Concerto for Two Pianos, each work highlights the composer’s inexhaustible imagination and genius.
