Often, most of us talk about the great composers with great ease, and our familiarity with at least some of their works sometimes gives us the impression that we know them in depth. But is this really the case? The truth is that there are areas in the oeuvre of composers, even the most important ones, that often escape our attention, perhaps because other works monopolize our interest and visibility. If we dig into these more unseen areas, however, we may discover gems that reflect the quintessence of the great composers’ souls. Two of our most distinguished soloists, Christina Giannakopoulou and Myrsini Margariti, together with the equally distinguished pianist Maria Papapetropoulou, shed plenty of light on an “unknown” area of Mozart’s work, which is none other than the set of Lieder for one or two voices and piano. Those who want to experience the findings of this “excavation” are sure not to be missed; on the contrary, you will come away from the concert richer in emotions, thoughts and beauty.
