As part of the celebrations marking the 80th Anniversary of the Italian Republic, the Embassy of Italy in Athens and the Italian Cultural Institute of Athens are pleased to present Opera, Amore, a meta-opera in one act created and performed by the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Academy.
Opera, Amore is an original musical performance that takes audiences on a journey through the history of Italian opera, from Monteverdi to Puccini. Blending music, theatre and storytelling, the work revisits some of the most celebrated themes and emotions of the Italian melodramatic tradition — love, passion, rivalry and drama — through a contemporary and accessible format, paying tribute to more than four centuries of Italian operatic excellence.
