National Theatre Live returns with JOHN MILLINGTON SYNGE’s darkly comic masterpiece The Playboy of the Western World, a sharp satire on youth and self-discovery, directed by Caitríona McLaughlin.
Pegeen Flaherty (Nicola Coughlan, Bridgerton) sees her life turned upside down when a young man (Éanna Hardwicke, The Sixth Commandment) arrives at her inn claiming to have killed his own father. Yet instead of recoiling from the supposed murderer, the local community turns him into a hero and heartthrob — until, quite unexpectedly, a second man appears.
This new recorded production from the National Theatre promises to captivate audiences with a dark comedy brimming with secrets.
