Nikos Balogiannis and Aris Graikousis appear successively on stage, presenting an imagined musical dialogue between the Paraguayan guitarist Agustín Barrios Mangoré and the Polish pianist Frédéric Chopin. Two composers who, although they lived in different eras and on different continents, created a deeply kindred romantic language, written for the instrument each of them served, touching the most intimate feelings of the human soul.
The “voices” of the two instruments, with their parallel traditions and seemingly incompatible modes of expression, are united in the work of the Romantic Hungarian guitarist-composer Johann Kaspar Mertz.
