CONCERTS BY THE ATHENS STATE ORCHESTRA
A great favourite with Athenian audiences, Slovenian veteran conductor Uroš Lajovic will conduct the great Austrian Romantic symphonist’s Third Symphony, a hymn to Nature’s idyllic aspect, as well as its wild, ‘Dionysiac’ side. As in most of his symphonies, the scrupulous ‘magnifying glass’ of Mahler’s thought produces a unique balance between highly intricate rhetorical statements and a profound lyricism that is both simple and unaffected.
