After two years of forced abstention from its regular Megaron concerts, Camerata Junior – The Friends of Music Youth Orchestra and orchestra in residence at Megaron the Athens Concert Hall, led by its conductor and teacher Nikos Chaliasas, is eagerly looking forward to sharing its new repertoire with the audience.
The Children’s Camerata and the Camerata Junior will appear separately as well as together, in works by Josef Suk, William Boyce and Paul Wood. They will also present, the world premiere of the work composed especially for the Orchestra by young composer Panagiotis Fountas, holder of a Friends of Music Scholarship. Thanks to the generous donation made by the World in Harmony Foundation, this year the Friends of Music Society has invited new talented conductors and soloists, from all over Greece, to work with the Camerata Junior in its study sessions and rehearsals, as well as in its concerts. In this context, 12-year-old violinist Nikolia Garoufalidou, who has already won awards in many international competitions, will perform with the Orchestra works by Tchaikovsky, De Falla and L. Papastavrou.
