Overview

The Greek jazz scene never ceases to amaze us, as in recent years it has been steadily flourishing, gaining an increasingly wider audience. For jazz enthusiasts, the Flying Jazz Trio stands out for its aesthetics and consistency. The group was created in 2008 by guitarist and composer Stefanos Andreadis, with the valuable assistance of pianist George Kontrafouris and the participation of excellent musicians, such as saxophonist Dimos Dimitriadis, drummer Alexandros-Drakos Ktistakis and trumpeter Andreas Polyzogopoulos. Their multifaceted collaboration was reflected in the ensemble’s first two albums, while starting with their third album drummer Vassilis Podaras became the group’s third permanent member. It is with this composition that the group’s fourth album, Abel, was released in October 2022 by Irida Jazz. It will be presented at the group’s Megaron concert, along with other hits from their 15 years-long recording career. The unique melodic coexistence of the electric guitar with the characteristic groove of the Hammond organ and the rhythmic imagination of drummer Dimitris Klonis (in place of Vasilis Podaras) convey the charm of a special combination of instruments, creating exciting soundscapes of high musical quality.
