The “Messiah” is perhaps the most popular choral work ever written; it is based on excerpts from the Old and New Testaments and constitutes the musical epitome of Divine Glory, reaching its climax in the “Hallelujah” chorus.

(this version is based on the first performance in Dublin, 1742)
