“Globe to Globe Hamlet”

Overview
THEATRE AT MEGARON
In collaboration with the British Embassy & the British Council in Athens,
in the framework of the “Shakespeare Lives”
With Greek surtitles
On 23 April 2014 – the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth – Shakespeare’s Globe embarked upon a two-year global tour of Hamlet to every country in the world. The “Globe to Globe Hamlet”, directed by the Globe’s Artistic Director Dominic Dromgoole, is a completely unprecedented theatrical adventure. Shakespeare’s Globe on Tour reinvents Elizabethan touring theatre for the twenty-first century. Using a stage design inspired by images from the time, the Globe’s travelling players recreate all the fun and excitement of early theatre. This unique performance is now presented in Athens.
