GREAT ORCHESTRAS – GREAT CONDUCTORS

The Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra – an exemplary ensemble of young musicians – performs works by Mahler, conducted by Philippe Jordan, one of the most outstanding conductors of the younger generation. The soloist is the renowned American baritone Thomas Hampson.

2010/2011, Mahler Year: last year was the 150th anniversary of the birth of Gustav Mahler (1860-1911), and 2011 is the centenary of his death. Mahler Year will be celebrated across the world with concerts and special tributes to this great composer.
