This year marks one hundred and fifty years since the birth of Sergei Rachmaninoff, the composer whose music speaks directly to the human soul, with ageless melodies, exciting harmonies, passionate narratives and overflowing emotions. Three eminent artists –violinist Iason Keramidis, associate concertmaster of the Munich Philharmonic, cellist Benedict Klöckner, who has been praised by artists such as Simon Rattle and Daniel Barenboim, and renowned piano virtuoso Apostolos Palios– collaborate on well or lesser-known trio works of the great Russian composer. Among them is the sublime Sonata for cello and piano, whose appeal is comparable to that of the composer’s Second piano concerto.
