If my Verses had Wings…

Overview
Aura, breath, inspiration, wind, soul… Two lyric voices and a piano unravel the thread of words, stepping into the magical circle of fire, conversing with the angel and the muse of creation, crafting a musical narrative in which de Falla’s sorcerer love, Lorca’s poetry and the duende of the Andalusian soul are reflected in the nuances of Taylor’s sky and water, the winged verses of Reynaldo Hahn meet Crumb’s wind elegy, and Weil’s Marie Galante finds herself wandering down the pathways of Poulenc’s love.

Trio El Greco
From the mature, introverted German romanticism of Brahms and the more extroverted music of Dvořák, which draws on the Czech folk music tradition, to the moody style of Armenian composer Babadjanian, the ever-active Trio El Greco presents a less frequently visited side of the repertoire for piano trio, revealing unexpected similarities between these quite different composers.
