Stathis Anninos, having collaborated with Dionysis Savvopoulos as pianist and arranger, invites us on a musical journey, a retrospective of the great path of a creator who set out from Thessaloniki with a “Truck” and travelled the length and breadth of Greece.
In the first part of the performance, he presents original arrangements for solo piano, approaching selected melodies through a personal lens. With inventiveness and respect for his musical legacy, he seeks to illuminate different facets of his distinctive musical temperament. In the second part, he is joined by the performer and composer Katerina Polemi, who shared the stage with Dionysis Savvopoulos, lending a distinctive interpretive dimension to his songs through her voice.
The performance also features the leading bassist Yiotis Kiourtsoglou, a close collaborator and “childhood friend” of Dionysis Savvopoulos, as the composer himself used to call him.
The performance is a personal tribute to the work of Dionysis Savvopoulos. It highlights the timelessness of his music and words, reminding us that his songs will continue to accompany the great and small moments of our lives, both on a personal and a collective level.
