One of the fastest-rising pianists of our time, Austrian musician Lukas Sternath (Vienna, 2001) gained invaluable musical experience in his childhood as a member of the renowned Vienna Boys’ Choir. A few years later, he distinguished himself in major international piano competitions, culminating in the First Prize and seven additional special awards (!) at Munich’s prestigious ARD Competition in 2022. Selected as a Rising Star by the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO) for the 2024–25 artistic season, Sternath continues to develop relentlessly as an artist, captivating audiences with both his virtuosity and the interpretive depth he brings even to the most ambitious works of the piano repertoire.

For his first appearance in Athens, he has chosen to take the audience on a journey through the labyrinthine and heartrending musical narrative of Franz Schubert’s epic final Piano Sonata. His recital programme concludes with Sergei Prokofiev’s Eighth Sonata, a work the legendary Sviatoslav Richter described as “a tree bending under the weight of its many fruits.”

As part of the concert, the artist also takes part in parallel educational and cultural outreach activities organized by the Megaron for vulnerable communities.
