The mezzo Nefeli Kotseli is one of the most interesting and charismatic voices that have appeared in our country in recent years. Having a special knowledge and sensitivity to the demanding genre of the German Lied, she puts the focus of her recital on two masterful vocal cycles of the German romantic Robert Schumann, which are imbued with eroticism, melancholy and passion. Alongside them, she performs Haydn’s cantata Ariadne on Naxos and songs by George Kouroupos, set to Sappho’s poetry and performed by Odysseus Elytis. In the field of singing for voice and piano, the latter is not just an accompanying instrument but an equal companion to the voice. Singer and pianist together create a new “instrument”, whose expressiveness seems to know no boundaries. The guarantee of the success of this transformative confluence is the highly experienced and always ideal partner of the singers, Dimitris Yakas.
