The Athens String Quartet, which consists of prominent members of the Athens State Orchestra, has dominated the domestic music scene in recent years, offering robust and inspired readings of the greatest works of the repertoire. In this year’s concert at Megaron the Athens Concert Hall, it collaborates with two prominent and versatile soloists from Thessaloniki, who have a wealth of concert activity to their credit: flutist Nevart-Veron Galilea and pianist Thodoris Tzovanakis. All six musicians, familiar and loved by the audience, present imaginative works by important Greek composers of today, as well as immortal pages of chamber music, such as Dvořák’s explosive Piano Quintet.
