A mysterious boulder that gleams like a giant moonstone dominates the stage. Water floods the space, transforming it into a natural landscape where the dancers run, whirl, dive from the rock, and slide across the stage after daring falls. Steps and gestures are freed from the weight of melancholy. Through seemingly carefree movement, they confront the primal forces that shape human life. In Vollmond, first presented in 2006, Pina Bausch, with her distinctive poetic language, creates one of the most iconic narratives in the history of dance theatre, where love, desire, tenderness, and the conflict between the sexes coexist in an unceasing interplay of tension and lyricism.
