Stefano di Battista Morricone Stories

Overview
The idea began germinating when the legend whose boundless musical genius and innovative experimentations changed film scoring forever was still alive. In 2021, saxophonist Stefano Di Batista, fellow musician and friend of Ennio Morricone, released the album Morricone Stories as a tribute to the leading Italian composer. Di Batista chooses from the more than five hundred musical themes that Morricone wrote for films such as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), What have you done to Solange? (1972), Once Upon a Time in America (1984) and The Mission (1986), offering us an exciting immersion in the world of jazz. Following the tradition according to which some of the most refined pages of jazz music are based on popular Broadway hits, the improvisational yet at the same time strictly structured jazz idiom highlights in a unique way Morricone’s melodic wealth.
