Stefanos Nasos – Apostolos Palios:
Piano Duo

Overview
SERGEI RACHMANINOFF
Rachmaninoff, the Russian soul of the piano par excellence!
A composer of important works for piano duo: the Russian Rhapsody is a typically virtuosic composition of variations by eighteen-year-old Sergei Vasilyevich; his two unsurpassed four-movement suites of symphonic dimensions for two pianos are undoubtedly among the finest works in the repertoire, with the characteristic broad melodies of the Muscovite composer, the warbling, luminous, and occasionally dramatic writing, the romantic mood, the superb harmonies and the transcendent atmosphere.
A kaleidoscope of romantic melodies, images of love, and Russian Orthodox religious allusions. And, in between, the lively Concertino for two pianos that Dmitri Shostakovich wrote for his son Maxim.
