Michalis Souyioul was a Greek composer in the early and mid-20th century, prolific in the genre of light music, writing more than 700 songs in all styles: tangos, waltzes, serenades, folk, pop, romances etc. After World War II he created the “archontorembetiko school”, which combined traditional rembetiko rhythms with western-style orchestrations.
Some of the most beautiful songs of this unique genre will be presented in a concert by the Athenian Mandolinata orchestra, accompanied by distinguished singers and dancers, who will revive the magical atmosphere of an era that we all miss.
