The Greek Youth Symphony Orchestra performs with violinist Noah Bendix-Balgley, concert master of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Under the musical direction of its artistic director Dionysis Grammenos, the GYSO presents a programme that balances the ethereal, timeless grandeur of Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia, the lyrical writing of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, the contemporary Starburst of American Jessie Montgomery and the vibrant energy of Beethoven’s Second Symphony, a landmark work in the transition to Romanticism.
