The celebrated Scottish tenor and conductor Paul Agnew leads for the first time one of Johann Sebastian Bach’s greatest sacred works: the Christmas Oratorio, a masterpiece that lends unique dramatic power to the story of the Nativity. Iconic both for the great feast of Christianity and for world music heritage, this oratorio stands as one of Bach’s most beloved creations.

From the earliest years of his long career, the Scottish maestro has been immersed in early music. He now directs the choir and orchestra of Les Arts Florissants, the historic early music ensemble founded in 1979 by the legendary Baroque pioneer William Christie, which remains today one of the most active period-instrument ensembles worldwide, offering benchmark interpretations.

They are joined by a distinguished group of lyric singers, all with long and fruitful experience in the enchanting world of Baroque vocal music.
