The Camerata Orchestra of the Friends of Music, under the direction of the distinguished conductor Kornilios Michailidis, invites us to extend the festive spirit, as waltzes, polkas and marches by the Strauss family fill the hall with elegance and vitality, welcoming in the year that has just begun. Thanks to Johann Strauss the Elder and his three sons — Johann the Younger, Josef and Eduard — popular Austrian dances became symbols of music the world over, while the Viennese waltz tradition was recognised by UNESCO as an element of Austria’s Intangible Cultural Heritage.
