The Vienna Symphony, one of Europe’s historic orchestras, appears at Megaron as part of its major European tour, joined by two stars: Czech conductor Petr Popelka and Japanese pianist Mao Fujita.
The programme brings together two towering works of the Austrian musical tradition. Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major, written at the height of his Viennese creative period, combines effortless lyricism with a brilliant balance between soloist and orchestra, revealing the composer’s unique mastery of the concerto form. Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 opens a new chapter in the composer’s symphonic writing: from the imposing march at its opening to the triumphant finale, it traces a gripping journey from grief and inner struggle to an affirmation of life, building dramatic tension to a climax in one of the most towering edifices of symphonic architecture.
