Nikolai Lugansky in Rachmaninoff’s Third 150 years since the birth of Sergei Rachmaninoff

Overview
Nikolai Lugansky’s unparalleled virtuosity and refined expressiveness make him one of the greatest virtuosos of our time and an ideal interpreter of Rachmaninoff’s Third Concerto, the “Mount Everest” of piano concertos. Vassilis Christopoulos, who over the last few years has been consistently associated with of the Athens State Orchestra’s most successful performances, conducts Hindemith’s symphonic masterpiece inspired by the Renaissance painter Matthias Grünewald, along with the deeply spiritual Julian suite by Filippos Tsalahouris, which pays tribute to the memory of distinguished Byzantinist Iouliani Chrysostomidou.
