Few artists have contributed as decisively to shaping historically informed performance as Elizabeth Blumenstock. The great American violinist and conductor, who has devoted more than four decades to the study of the baroque repertoire, seeking historical accuracy through the vitality of live musical practice, takes on the role of leading the Camerata Orchestra of the Friends of Music from the baroque violin, in a concert that showcases the inexhaustible richness of Bach’s music.
The programme includes the secular cantata “Non sa che sia dolore,” one of only two cantatas in Italian attributed to Bach, as well as the Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B minor, a work that concludes with the famous “Badinerie,” the most celebrated piece ever written for the traverso flute.
